Exclusive: FBI Leadership Distances Itself from Garland Memo
FBI Opposed Cash Payout to Andrew McCabe
Judicial Watch learned some interesting inside info from a source about the FBI, the Garland memo, and the DOJ’s decision to give cash to the disgraced and corrupt Andrew McCabe.
Within the last two weeks, Director Wray gave a presentation in which he said that Justice Department did not consult the FBI before the infamous Garland memo was issued. Wray said the FBI was not in the business of policing school boards and that the First Amendment rights of Americans would be respected. He said the FBI would not be involved unless there was violence.
Similarly, another senior FBI official’s presentation detailed how the FBI had no input on the Garland memo and that it was a “shock.” This official said that Director Wray responded to the memo by contacting all of the SAC’s to reiterate that though violence would be subject to investigation, the First Amendment would be respected.
This senior official also slammed the Garland’s DOJ decision to give disgraced former FBI official Andrew McCabe over $700,000 and a promise to scrub his record despite his documented lies to the FBI and the DOJ IG. This senior official said the FBI had nothing to do with the settlement with McCabe and opposed it. The senior FBI official accused McCabe of lying to the FBI and to Congress about his involvement in the FBI’s Russia investigation. (The DOJ IG had documented that McCabe had lied repeatedly about his leaks about the FBI’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation.)
The senior official also suggested the FBI's General Counsel fought the Justice Department’s decision to expunge McCabe’s record as part of the lawsuit settlement.
Interestingly, this senior FBI official also pushed back on the criticism that the FBI seems to have focused more resources on the January 6 investigation than the left-wing violence that plagued many American cities. The official said that a review of how FBI resources were deployed showed that the criticism of the FBI was “BS.”
